Uttarakhand: Four tourists from Delhi killed as car falls 500 mtr into gorge near Kolhukhet

PTC News Desk: Four tourists were killed in a tragic road accident on the Mussoorie-Dehradun road in Uttarakhand on Wednesday after their car plunged 500 metres into deep gorge near Kolhukhet.


The deceased have been identified as Satyaprakash, a resident of Sonipat; 19-year-old Manit; Savita (48), wife of Dharmveer and a resident of Nehru Nagar in Ghaziabad; and Sangeeta (46), wife of Titu and a resident of Karol Bagh in Delhi.

According to police, the four victims were travelling back from Uttarkashi in a Maruti Celerio (registration number DL5CS4610) when the accident took place. Initial investigations indicate that the car may have suffered brake failure while descending a steep stretch of road, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle then plunged into a deep gorge.

After receiving information about the crash, police and rescue teams rushed to the scene and began a rescue operation. However, all four occupants were found dead.

Police said a thorough investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the accident. As part of the inquiry, the vehicle's mechanical condition will also be examined.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed gried over the incident said the news of tourists losing their lives in the accident near Jharipani on the Mussoorie-Dehradun road was deeply saddening.
