CBI extradites fugitive Haryana gangster Vainket Garg from Georiga, was wanted in murder, extortion cases
PTC News Desk: The Central Bureau of Investigation in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and Haryana Police, secured the extradition of Red Notice subject Vainket Garg from Georgia to India on Thursday.
Wanted in multiple cases of murder, extortion, organised crime and illegal possession and use of firearms in Haryana, gangster Venkat Garg was extradited from Georgia to India on Thursday.
Earlier he was arrested during the course of investigation, but after being granted bail, he fled India to evade legal proceedings. As a result, the Delhi Police requested MEA to revoke Garg's passports along with those of nine other criminals.
A Red Notice was issued against him through Interpol at the request of the Haryana Police.
Acting on intelligence about his whereabouts, authorities in Georgia arrested Garg. Indian agencies subsequently sought his extradition, which was approved after legal procedures were completed. A team from Haryana Police travelled to Georgia, took custody of the accused, and brought him back to India.
Garg, a resident of Naraingarh in Haryana's Ambala district, came under the spotlight last year after allegedly shooting dead BSP leader Harbilas Rajjumajra in February over a personal dispute.
Investigators suspect that while absconding, Garg remained in contact with associates of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Officials believe his further interrogation could reveal details about his criminal network and provide insights into his alleged involvement in organised crime activities in the region.
