Goa nightclub fire:  In a significant turn of events, a court has granted conditional bail to Luthra brothers in connection with Goa nightclub fire that killed 25 people, even as they remain in custody in a linked forgery case.

The Court of the Additional Sessions Judge at Merces granted regular bail to the brothers in connection with the December 2025 fire at the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub.

The Luthra brothers will not be released from jail despite getting bail.

Police in Mapusa have taken the Luthra brothers into custody in a separate case related to the alleged forgery of a no-objection certificate used to secure an excise licence for a nightclub.

“We have taken Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra into custody as part of our investigation,” a police official said earlier.

The brothers were earlier lodged in Colvale Central Jail in North Goa after their anticipatory bail plea in the forgery case was rejected on March 27.

Fire tragedy and investigation

A fire at a nightclub in Arpora on December 6 last year killed 25 people and injured over 50, making it one of the deadliest such incidents in the state.

While Anjuna police are investigating the cause of the fire, Mapusa police are looking into alleged irregularities in how the licence was obtained.
