PTC News Desk: In yet another shocking case, a 19-year-old woman was subjected to brutalities by her live-in partner in Gurugram. The teen, who is critical and is undergoing treatment at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital, told the police that the accused poured sanitiser on her private parts and set it on fire.
She further accused that the accused, Shivam (19) then struck her head with a metal bottle, smashed it against household furniture, and went on to attack her with a knife.
According to the woman, the violence continued for three days in a row. She is a biotechnology student studying in Gurugram.
She alleged that her partner assaulted her on February 19 following an argument about marriage. The Gurugram Police arrested the accused, Shivam, a resident of Delhi, and sent him to judicial custody.
Police said the woman met Shivam through an online dating app in September 2025 and later moved in with him in Sector 69, Gurugram. Discussions about marriage had reportedly begun between their families. The couple was talking late at night about marriage plans when the argument turned violent. Medical reports confirmed that the woman suffered multiple serious injuries.
Hitesh Yadav, DCP (South) Gurugram, said the survivor was first admitted to a government hospital in critical condition. Due to the seriousness of her injuries, she was later shifted to AIIMS and then to Safdarjung Hospital for advanced treatment.
The case came to light after the victim’s mother informed the police.
"She was shattered and in pain and pleaded to be rescued. We had no idea about her live-in relationship," said the victim's mother, who called the police. An FIR has been registered against the accused under Sections 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 118 (1) (causing hurt by dangerous weapons), 127 (2) (wrongful confinement), 69 (sexual intercourse by deceitful means or false promise of marriage), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation).
