Haryana horror: 24-year-old dies as drunk cop runs over her, family demands action
The deceased identified as Nikita, fell from an e-rickshaw she was travelling in after it was hit by the cop's car. Her body was brought to Civil Hospital late on Tuesday night.
PTC News Desk: A 24-year-old woman lost her life in a tragic accident after police official reportedly under the influence, ran over her in Haryana's Ambala.
The deceased identified as Nikita, fell from an e-rickshaw she was travelling in after it was hit by the cop's car. Her body was brought to Civil Hospital late on Tuesday night.
Eyewitness Ravinder Singh, an e-rickshaw driver, alleged that a speeding car driven by a police officer struck his e-rickshaw.
"I was coming from Ambala Cantt with four passengers in the e-rickshaw... A speeding car driven by a police officer hit our e-rickshaw, and a girl fell from it. After that, the police officer ran over the girl. When she was brought to the hospital, she was declared dead. The police officer was drunk," Singh added.
Speaking on the matter, Station House Officer (SHO) Dharamveer said that Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) Amit was posted as rider number 13 at Baldev Nagar outpost.
"The drunk policeman lost control of the vehicle and ran over Nikita, and the vehicle hit the grille on the highway. The police have arrested the driver and a case has now been registered," he said.
