Retired army personnel arrested in Delhi on suspicion of Lashkar links: Police
PTC News Desk: On Sunday, February 4, Delhi Police apprehended Riyaz Ahmed, a former Army soldier, suspected of being associated with the banned terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Ahmed's arrest follows the recent dismantling of a terror module by the Jammu & Kashmir Police in Kupwara.
According to authorities, Riyaz Ahmed was actively engaged in a conspiracy alongside two other individuals, Khursheed Ahmad Rather and Ghulam Sarwar Rather, to procure weapons and ammunition from across the Line of Control (LoC). Their alleged aim was to carry out subversive activities in Jammu & Kashmir.
In a statement, Delhi Police stated, "The accused, Riyaz Ahmed, was a retired army personnel and was actively involved in hatching a conspiracy along with his associates to receive arms and ammunition from across the LoC by the terrorist handlers of LeT for carrying out subversive activities in J&K."

This arrest comes in the wake of a successful operation conducted by Jammu & Kashmir Police, resulting in the disruption of a terror module operating from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Earlier detentions in Karnah uncovered individuals involved in smuggling various arms and ammunition, including Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, who was found in possession of firearms and in communication with LeT handlers based in PoK.
Investigations revealed the critical role played by these handlers in dispatching weapon consignments to support illicit activities in the region, underscoring the ongoing challenges posed by cross-border terrorism.
