Nanded gurdwara board restored: Gurinder Singh Bawa announces Rs 25 crore plan for sangat
Maharashtra has restored Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib Gurdwara Board in Nanded after a Bombay High Court order. The board has announced Rs 20-25 crore for health, solar power and staff welfare
PTC Web Desk: After the Maharashtra government restored the elected management board of Takht Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib in Nanded following Bombay High Court order, the restored board has already announced welfare and development works worth about Rs 20-25 crore.
The board runs the Takht under the Nanded Sikh Gurdwara Sachkhand Sri Hazur Abchalnagar Sahib Act, 1956. The board in question was constituted on March 8, 2019.
In June 2022, the Maha Vikas Aghadi government dissolved it under Section 53 of the Act. The state alleged the board had misused its powers and had not carried out its legal duties. An administrator was appointed and the arrangement was extended several times.

The court battle
The dissolved board challenged the decision in the Bombay High Court. On October 6, 2025, the Aurangabad bench quashed the government’s June 29, 2022 notification and told the state to restore the board to the position it held before that date.
The order was not carried out and a contempt petition was filed in February. At a hearing recently, Chief Government Pleader Amarjeet Singh Girase told a Division Bench that the Revenue and Forest departments had issued a notification restoring the board. It was also published in the state gazette. The court took the statement on record and closed the matter.
The notification, signed by Deputy Secretary Bhagwan Sawant, reinstates the board constituted on March 8, 2019, and withdraws the 2022 notification that dissolved it.
Leadership of the board
The board’s chairman, Bhupinder Singh Minhas, has died. The responsibility for running the institution now rests on vice-chairman Gurinder Singh Bawa. He is supported by a team that includes general secretary Ravinder Singh Bungai.
Rs 20-25 crore plan announced
After the restoration, Bawa and his team announced the following:
A 50 per cent festival bonus for employees.
A Diwali gift of Rs 1,000 each for contract employees and for women.
Modern MRI, CT scan, X-ray and other diagnostic facilities, costing about Rs 15 crore.
A solar power system costing about Rs 5 crore. The savings from it will go towards the education of Gursikh children.
The board has also said it will work towards hospitals, education, residential buildings and other welfare facilities in future.
