Tamil actor Vijay takes political plunge, floats Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam party

PTC Web Desk: In a significant development, Tamil cinema's superstar Vijay has officially stepped into the political arena by launching the "Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam" (Tamil Nadu Victory Party). This move comes days after he was appointed as the party chief by the Tamizha Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) leaders. 

Vijay's entry into politics has been a long-anticipated move, and with the launch of "Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam," he solidifies his commitment to public service. The party's name itself reflects a determination for victory in Tamil Nadu's political landscape.

Addressing the media, Vijay clarified that his party would not participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Instead, he expressed his dedication to completing the film commitments he has already undertaken while actively engaging in public service through politics. Vijay emphasised that this step is a gesture of gratitude towards the people of Tamil Nadu.

Celebrations Erupt Among Fans

The announcement of Vijay's political entry prompted spontaneous celebrations among his ardent fan base. Tamil Nadu, known for its seamless transition of stars from cinema to politics, has seen iconic figures like MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa making their mark in both realms. Vijay, often hailed as the next Rajinikanth, has a substantial following, and his move into politics has heightened the excitement among his supporters.

Vijay's journey into politics is preceded by years of philanthropic efforts, where he actively engaged his fan clubs in various welfare activities. From free distribution of food to educational scholarships, libraries, evening tuition, and legal aid, Vijay has cultivated a reputation for serving the community. His recent initiative to honor academic achievers at a constituency level demonstrates his commitment to nurturing the future generation and instilling values of leadership.

Hailing from a family deeply entrenched in the film industry, with his father being celebrated film director Chandrasekhar, Vijay has acted in 68 films. His cinematic endeavors often touch upon sensitive and vital public interest issues.
