Abohar businessman murder case: Two accomplices of shooters killed in police encounter, one cop injured

PTC Web Desk: In a significant development in the high-profile murder case of Sanjay Verma, the co-owner of the 'Wear Well' clothing brand in Abohar, the Punjab Police gunned down two accused in an encounter late Tuesday evening. The duo allegedly assisted the shooters, who killed Verma, by helping them flee after the incident.

The deceased have been identified as Jaspreet Singh, a resident of Mardanpur, and Ram Ratan from Patiala. During the exchange of fire, one police personnel was also injured and has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

According to sources, the two accused had earlier been arrested in a joint operation conducted by the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and the Fazilka police. During interrogation, the accused were taken to recover weapons, when they allegedly opened fire on police personnel, prompting a retaliatory action that led to their deaths.

Sanjay Verma was fatally shot outside his showroom near Bhagat Singh Chowk in Abohar when he arrived in his car. Eyewitnesses stated that three assailants arrived on a motorcycle and opened indiscriminate fire as soon as Verma stepped out of his vehicle.

Soon after the murder, a Facebook post from a profile named Aarzoo Bishnoi claimed responsibility for the killing. The post stated that Goldy Dhillon, Aarzoo Bishnoi, and Shubham Lonker from Maharashtra were behind the attack.

The police are currently investigating the gang connections and possible motives behind the murder, suspecting a gang rivalry or extortion angle.
