Sri Akal Takht, SGPC release Nanakshahi calender for Sammat 558

This year's Nanakshahi calender marks the 650th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas, the centenary of Kirathpur Sahib, and the 450th foundation anniversary of Sri Amritsar Sahib.

PTC News Desk: Akal Takht acting Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj on Friday released the Nanakshahi calender for Sammat 558 (2026-27) in presence of SGPC president Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami and other representatives of the apex Sikh body.  


Meanwhile Jathedar Gargaj has appealed the Sikh community to celebrate and observe all the religious occasions as per the Nanakshahi calender in order to maintain unity and uniformity. 


This year's Nanakshahi calender marks the 650th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas, the centenary of Kirathpur Sahib, and the 450th foundation anniversary of Sri Amritsar Sahib.


Akal Takht's acting Jathedar has ordered the SGPC’s Dharam Parchar Committee (DPC) and 'parcharaks' to ensure the availability of the Akal Takht approved SGPC calendar at every gurdwara in both urban and rural areas. 


The Nanakshahi year begins with the month of chet.
