Army personnel, suspended cop among six arrested in drug trafficking case in Punjabs Faridkot; 4.8 kg heroine recovered

DGP Gaurav Yadav confirmed the development on his social media adding that further action will be taken against the network and people involved.

PTC News Desk: Punjab Police have busted major heroine trafficking network being operated from within the jail premises in Faridkot. An Army personnel and a suspended cop was among the six people arrested. 


Police have also recovered 4.8 kg of heroine, a weapon, a Thar SUV, and another SUV from the accused. 


DGP Gaurav Yadav confirmed the development on his social media adding that further action will be taken against the network and people involved.


“In a major breakthrough, @Faridkot Police, after a 2-month long jail-based interception, busts a well organised heroin trafficking network, apprehends 6 accused, including 1 Army personnel and 1 dismissed police personnel, and recovers 4.8 kg heroin, 1 weapon, and a Thar & XUV vehicle,” Yadav said in a post on X. 


The police carried out the operation after two months of jail-based interception and surveillance. Officials said they had strong evidence before launching the crackdown. A press conference is expected to be held soon by Faridkot Police to reveal more details.


Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused were previously involved in multiple cases under the NDPS Act.


The DGP said an FIR has been registered and further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages.
