Chandigarh BJP office blast: ISI-backed module busted, five operatives held in connection with explosion

Chandigarh BJP office blast: In a significant breakthrough in blast outside Chandigarh BJP office , the Chandigarh Police and the Counter Intelligence wing of the Punjab Police unearthed an ISI-backed module with the arrest of five operatives and the recovery of a hand grenade, a .30 Zigana pistol and 10 live cartridges from their possession.
The suspects have been identified as Balwinder Lal, alias Shami, of Majari village in Nawanshahr; Jasvir Singh, alias Jassi, of Bharapur village in Nawanshahr; Charanjit Singh, alias Channi, of Sujawalpur village in Nawanshahr; Rubal Chauhan of Thana village in Shimla, HP; and Mandeep, alias Abhijot Sharma, of Dhuri, Sangrur.
Two key operatives-Gurtej Singh and Amanpreet Singh- are currently absconding and joint police teams are conducting raids to nab them.

The accused had moved a shipment of hand grenades, weapons, and live bullets. These were passed through several people before reaching those who carried out the attack. Police said the accused acted on instructions from a handler based in Portugal, Baljot Singh alias Jot, and helped plan and carry out the attack.
An FIR has been registered at the SSOC Police Station in Mohali under the Arms Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police are continuing their investigation to find out more about the network, track where the weapons came from, and identify all people involved.
The attack also led to strong political reactions. The BJP blamed the AAP government for poor law and order and asked for accountability. In response, the AAP accused opposition parties of using the incident for political gain.
