PTC News Desk: The Congress on Monday staged a protest in Mohali against the ruling Aam Aadmi Party governments land pooling scheme. While the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accused the opposition of spreading lies and misleading the people.

While addressing the demonstrators, Punjab leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa alleged that the AAP government's land pooling policy is sheer attempt to rob Punjab's agricultural land.

"The Policy is not development but expolitation disguised as reforms. It's design was inherently misguided, and now the repercussions are unfolding as predicted. Farmers will be stripped of their only source of livelihood and villagers face the imminent threat of displacement," said Bajwa.

Meanwhile, Punjab CM Mann during addressing a gathering of sarpanches in Sangrur's Dhuri accused the opposition of misleading people and opposing the policy for the sake of objection and cited the policy as pro-farmer.

He said for each acre contributed, a landowner would get a residential plot of 1,000 sq yards and commercial property 200 sq yards.

“The Opposition is against the policy just for the sake of opposing it…neither the state government would acquire land forcibly, nor without the consent of farmers,” he added.
