DM Gagandeep Randhawa suicide case: Ex-Punjab minister Laljit Singh Bhullar sent to three-day police remand

Former Punjab Cabinet minister Laljit Singh Bhullar was sent to three-day police remand. He has been arrested in connection with suicide case of DM Gagandeep Singh Randhawa.

DM Gagandeep Randhawa suicide case: Former Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar was produced before a local court in Amritsar on Sunday and sent to three-day police remand. 


The police had sought a five-day remand to investigate the matter further. After hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defence, the court granted a three-day police remand.


An FIR was registered against Laljit Singh Bhullar under sections 108 (abetment to suicide), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).



Gagandeep Singh Randhawa used to work as district manager Punjab State Warehousing Corporation. He allegedly died by suicide on Saturday and blamed Laljit Singh Bhullar of mentally harassing him and physicallly torturing him over warehouse construction tenders in the Patti and Khemkaran areas of Tarn Taran.


According to the complainant, Upinder Kaur, wife of the deceased, the conflict began over tenders issued in October 2025  for new warehouses in the Patti and Khemkaran areas of Tarn Taran. She also alleged that her husband was tortured to an extent that it pushed him to end his life.
