Major blast attempt foiled in Punjab as 2 ISI-linked terror suspects arrested in Amritsar; RPG seized
According to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, preliminary investigations revealed that both accused were in contact with an operative of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI, who had provided them with the deadly weapon
PTC Web Desk: In a major intelligence-led operation, the Amritsar Rural Police, in coordination with central agencies, arrested two terror suspects identified as Mehakdeep Singh alias Mehak and Aditya alias Aadhi from Amritsar. During the operation, the police also recovered a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG), raising serious concerns about a planned terror attack in the region.
According to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, preliminary investigations revealed that both accused were in contact with an operative of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI, who had provided them with the deadly weapon. The accused were also linked to Harpreet Singh alias Vicky, who is currently lodged in Ferozepur Jail.
Sources indicate that the recovered RPG was intended to be used in a planned terrorist attack. A case has been registered at the Gharinda police station in Amritsar, and an extensive probe is underway to expose the entire network involved in the conspiracy.
Reaffirming the state’s firm stand against cross-border terrorism, DGP Yadav stated that the Punjab Police remains fully committed to dismantling the ISI-backed terror and organised crime networks operating in the state. He emphasised that maintaining peace and communal harmony in Punjab continues to be the police’s top priority.
