Nagar kirtan taken out from Akal Takht Sahib to mark birth anniversary of Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji

Nihang Singh jathas participated in Nagar Kirtan with traditional grandeur, accompanied by horses, camels and elephants

PTC Web Desk:  To commemorate the birth anniversary of Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), with the support of religious organisations and devotees, organised a grand Nagar Kirtan on Monday. The procession began from Sri Akal Takht Sahib and concluded at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Sahib.

Before the commencement of the Nagar Kirtan, additional head granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, Giani Amarjeet Singh, honoured Panj Pyare and Nishanchi Singhs by presenting them with siropas. Following the ardas, he placed the holy saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in the palki sahib and performed chaur sahib sewa while accompanying the procession.

The Nagar Kirtan passed through several prominent areas, including Plaza Ghanta Ghar, Jallianwala Bagh, Chowk Ghee Mandi, Pani Wali Tanki, Swaran House, Sultanwind Road, 100 Feet Road, Tej Nagar Chowk, Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar and Kot Mahna Singh on Tarn Taran Road. At various points, devotees warmly welcomed the procession and paid their respects.

Nihang Singh jathas participated in the Nagar Kirtan with traditional grandeur, accompanied by horses, camels and elephants. Gatka teams and band parties also added colour to the religious procession. Along the route, devotees organised different types of langar, reflecting the spirit of sewa and devotion.
