Punjab acid attack: Man attacks govt school teacher with acid, two children critically injured in Gurdaspur

The acid attack left the woman critically injured and triggered panic among the students and school authorities. The accused immediately fled the spot.

PTC News Desk:  In a horrific incident, a government school teacher was attacked with acid by her nephew while she was teaching in the classroom, leaving her and two other children aged 4 and 6 critically injured.  



The acid attack left the woman critically injured and triggered panic among the students and school authorities. The accused immediately fled the spot.


The victim has been identified as Lakhwinder Kaur (36) is a teacher at a government primary school in Mahimdipur village in Gurdaspur.


Soon afthe the incident, police reached the spot and launched swift investigation into the matter leading to the arrest of the accused. 


The preliminary investigation suggests that the accused was found to be HIV-positive and was a proclaimed drug addict. Currently he is being interrogated and police is trying to establish the motive behind this heinous crime. 



According to information, Lakhwinder Kaur (36) is a teacher at a government primary school in Mahimdipur village in Gurdaspur. On Friday, she came to school as usual and was teaching in her classroom. Around 10:30 am, her nephew arrived carrying acid bottle. As soon as he entered the classroom, he threw the acid directly at her inflicting severe burn and leaving her helplessly in pain. 



According to another teacher, Sarabjit Kaur, and the village sarpanch Mandeep Singh, the condition of the teacher and the girl is critical. They are currently admitted to Batala Civil Hospital. Doctors said the girl’s eyes have been damaged due to the acid, and treatment is ongoing.


Batala DSP Harish Behl said that police reached the spot immediately after receiving information and arrested the accused within a short time. The reason behind the attack is still not clear, but it has been found that the accused is a drug addict and HIV-positive.
