PTC Web Desk:  Punjab and Chandigarh are set to witness another spell of unstable weather, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warning of rain, strong winds and possible hailstorms over the next three days starting March 19.

The region had experienced a drop in temperatures earlier due to recent rainfall and snowfall in the hills, leading to a brief cold spell. However, clear skies on Monday triggered a sharp rise of 4.7°C in daytime temperatures, bringing them closer to normal levels.

According to the IMD, light to moderate rainfall is likely at isolated places in seven districts on Wednesday, including Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar (Ropar), Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Nawanshahr and Mohali. Chandigarh is expected to remain largely clear, though partly cloudy conditions may prevail in some areas.

A short-term alert has also been issued for Mohali, Chandigarh and Panchkula, with the possibility of light rainfall within the next few hours.

From March 19 onwards, weather conditions are expected to deteriorate further, with intermittent rain, gusty winds, and isolated hailstorms forecast across parts of Punjab and adjoining areas. Authorities have advised residents to stay updated with weather alerts and take necessary precautions, especially in regions prone to sudden weather changes.
