PTC News Desk: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann arrived in Amritsar on Wednesday to appear at the Akal Takht secretariat. The appearance is scheduled to be held on Thursday, however the exact timings of his meeting with jathedar are still not known.
A secretariat official said preparations were made as per the directions of officiating Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargaj. “The exact time is not known. The secretariat generally opens at 9.30 am. All arrangements, including the deployment of special staff, have been made for the Jathedar’s meeting with the CM,” he said.
Notably, CM Mann has been summoned to explain his alleged "anti-Sikh" conduct. The Jathedar said the chief minister had been exhibiting an "anti-Sikh" mindset and making repeated objectionable remarks in violation of the 'Sikh Rehat Maryada' (code of conduct) while challenging the authority of Akal Takht.
Earlier, a flashpoint emerged over the timings of his appearance as Sri Akal Takht Secretariat issued a statement altering the timings from 10 am on Thursday, January 15, to 4.30 pm the same day, citing that the change was made after a request from the chief minister over prior engagements.
