Punjab declares summer vacations for all schools from June 1 to 30
As per the order, all schools in Punjab will remain closed from June 1 to June 30, 2026
Punjab schools summer vacations: The Punjab Government has announced summer vacations for all schools across the state, citing the intense and worsening heatwave conditions sweeping through the region.
The official order has been issued by Sonali Giri, IAS, Secretary of the School Education Department (Education-6 Branch), and covers every category of school, government, aided, and private, without exception. As per the order, all schools in Punjab will remain closed from June 1 to June 30, 2026.
Notably, the neighbouring state of Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh had already announced summer holidays earlier, with schools there closing from May 25 itself.
Meanwhile, parts of Punjab got some relief from the scorching heat on Saturday as rain lashed several areas across the state. The past few days had been particularly brutal, with temperatures making it difficult for people to step outside even for basic needs. The rainfall brought much-needed respite to residents who had been battling relentless heat for days.
