From November 4, Punjab schools are already functioning as per revised school timings due to cold weather conditions
PTC Web Desk: In the wake of a significant cold wave expected in northern India, including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Western Uttar Pradesh, starting December 9, Punjab on Monday declared winter vacations in schools from December 24 till December 31. A notification in this regard has been issued by the Punjab Education Department.
Notably, from November 4, Punjab schools are functioning as per revised school timings. Primary schools are functioning from 9 am to 3 pm, while middle and senior secondary schools are opening from 9 am to 3.20 pm. The adjustment, applicable to over 19,000 government, private, aided, and recognised schools, was implemented due to seasonal changes.
In Punjab, school schedules are modified thrice during the academic year. From April 1 to September 30, schools function from 8 am to 2 pm. Between October 1 and October 31, primary schools run from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, with middle and senior secondary schools extending until 2:50 pm. From November 1 to February 28, the timings have now been set as per the latest announcement.
