Navjot Kaur Sidhu seeks security from Punjab government following suspension from Congress

PTC News Desk: Navjot Kaur Sidhu, who was recently suspended by the Congress, has made serious allegations against the AAP government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. She has asked for security, saying she feels threatened, and accused the government of protecting the liquor and mining mafia.

In a post on X on Friday night (December 12, 2025), she addressed the Chief Minister directly, saying she now needs security and warned that the government would be responsible if anything happened to her. She also questioned why the government had not responded to the issues she raised before the Punjab Governor and accused it of helping illegal liquor and mining activities.

Sidhu also shared a copy of the memorandum she submitted to the Governor, in which she alleged a major land scam under the current government. She claimed that influential people had illegally occupied land in protected forest areas near the Shivalik hills and that the government was trying to legalise these illegal land holdings.

She further said that law and order in Punjab is worsening. According to her, large areas of land—ranging from one acre to as much as 10,000 acres—were taken over at very low prices by land sharks and are now being given legal protection.

Recalling her husband Navjot Singh Sidhu’s time as Local Bodies Minister, she said he had refused to approve files related to these matters and had instead ordered an inquiry.

Expressing deep concern over the law-and-order situation in Punjab, Sidhu said crime is rising, weapons are being misused, and people are living in fear, forcing some to think about leaving the state. She urged the Governor to call a special session of the Punjab Assembly to discuss these issues and take urgent steps to restore public trust.
