Punjab Govt declares PCS officers strike as illegal, orders protesting officers’ to join duty by 2 pm
Chandigarh, January 11: Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann declared strike of PCS officers’ as ‘illegal’ and ordered the protesting PCS officers’ to join the duty by 2 pm on Jan 11.
The order further stated that, those who do not join by 2 pm, their period of absences should be treated as dies non.
“It has been brought to my notice that some officers are not attending duty in the garb of some strike. They are protesting against strong action taken by the government against corrupt officers. The government has zero tolerance to corruption and such a strike amounts to blackmailing and arm-twisting. It cannot be tolerated by any responsible government,” the orders read.
Notably, PCS officers went on mass leave due to which the work in the government offices has come to a standstill. The offices look completely deserted. Reportedly, slamming VB for their ‘irresponsible and extortionist attitude’ PCS officers and revenue of officers across the started five day long casual mass leave from Monday.
PCS officer Narinder Singh Dhaliwal, who was posted as Regional Transport Authority (RTA) in Ludhiana, was arrested on Friday by the Vigilance Bureau for allegedly taking bribes from transporters for sparing them from challans.
