PTC Web Desk: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday granted interim relief to former cricketer and actor Yograj Singh in connection with an FIR registered over alleged derogatory remarks against women in the web series Lukkhe.

The High Court directed that no coercive action be taken against Yograj Singh till further orders. The court also issued a notice to the Chandigarh Administration, seeking its response on Singh’s anticipatory bail plea.

Yograj Singh had approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court after his anticipatory bail application was earlier dismissed by a Chandigarh district court.

The FIR in the matter was registered on May 14 at Sector 36 Police Station in Chandigarh following a complaint filed by advocates Ujjwal Bhasin and Jatin Verma.

The controversy erupted after a video clip from the web series went viral on social media, allegedly showing Yograj Singh making objectionable remarks against a woman police officer. The clip drew sharp criticism from lawyers and social media users, leading to the registration of the FIR.

The matter is now pending before the High Court for further hearing.
