PTC News Desk: Punjab Scheduled Caste Commission Chairperson Jasvir Singh Garhi has summoned senior Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa on February 11 over remarks against cabinet minister Harbhajan Singh ETO. The commission has also sought an investigation report from the Amritsar Rural SSP.

The actions follows Bajwa's alleged remarks where he said  that Harbhajan ETO used to play in a band, but is now 'playing the band of Punjab'.

In a hard-hitting response, ETO said that people who were not even capable of holding clerical jobs have become big leaders in the Congress. He added that leaders in his party did not rise suddenly without background, and that every AAP leader had either run a business or held a job before entering politics.

The remarks triggered massive outrage among the Aam Aadmi Party following which it stages a protest in Chandigarh. Party workers also marched to gherao Bajwa’s residence and protested by playing band music.

In view of the protest, police deployed barricades and used water canons to disperse the demonstrators, resulting in clash between police and the protestors.

Police used water cannons to disperse the crowd, during which the turbans of some protesters were dislodged. The police also detained Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, Harbhajan ETO, Health Minister Balbir Singh, and several other leaders.
