Laljit Singh Bhullar stepped down after being accused of abetting the suicide of District Magistrate Gagandeep Singh Randhawa
PTC Web Desk: In a significant Cabinet reshuffle, the Punjab Government on Tuesday reassigned key ministerial portfolios following the resignation of Laljit Singh Bhullar, who stepped down after being accused of abetting the suicide of District Magistrate Gagandeep Singh Randhawa.
According to official orders, the Transport Department has now been allocated to Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, while the Jails Department has been handed over to Dr Ravjot Singh.
Bhullar was looking after both the Transport and Jails departments.
On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has ruled out a CBI inquiry into the suicide case of warehouse District Manager Gagandeep Singh Randhawa.
Addressing a press conference in Chandigarh, CM Mann said necessary action had already been taken, including the resignation of minister Laljit Singh Bhullar. Bhullar had been arrested and an inquiry had been ordered under the supervision of the Chief Secretary.
He rejected the demands for a CBI investigation.
Meanwhile, the post-mortem of Randhawa has been conducted by a medical board of experts at a government medical college in Amritsar. The procedure was carried out in the presence of a tehsildar, and the victim’s family arranged for videography of the process.
