Student groups have accused the university administration of political promotion asserting that the educational institution shall be kept away from the politics and should not be used for the promotion of the same. They further added that the RSS program organised on the campus was merely for political promotion.

Meanwhile, Ashish Sharma, president of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) unit of the Panjab University said that Banveer Rana, the RSS’s North Region Pracharak Pramukh, had visited the university. He spoke about the history of the Sikh Gurus and their sacrifices for the country. and that the program had nothing to do with the politics.

He also said that since elections in Punjab are approaching, some student groups are opposing the event, even though its objective was only to share historical and cultural knowledge.
