S Parkash Singh Badal death | Public holiday in Chandigarh on April 27

Chandigarh, April 26: A public holiday has been declared in the Union Territory of Chandigarh on Thursday (April 26), following the demise of former Punjab Chief Minister and Shirmani Akali Dal (SAD) patron Sardar Parkash Singh Badal.

The last rites of the SAD stalwart will take place on Thursday at 1 pm. 

Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his last respects to Parkash Singh Badal in Chandigarh.

Parkash Singh Badal, a former Punjab chief minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader, died on Tuesday at the age of 95. The Centre has declared two days of national mourning on April 26 and 27 after the death of Akali Dal leader and five-time former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
