Schools in Jalandhar and Moga receive bomb threats; premises evacuated, security heightened

PTC News Desk: Panic spread across schools in Punjab after several institutions in Jalandhar and Moga received threatening emails claiming bombs had been planted on their campuses.
The emails, allegedly sent by a group calling itself the Khalistan National Army, also warned of attacks on a Delhi-bound train, the Punjab Legislative Assembly, and statues of B. R. Ambedkar. Following the threats, schools in Moga’s Gothewala, Ugoke, and Jhandiana villages quickly evacuated students and cancelled ongoing Class 9 examinations as a precaution.
In Jalandhar, at least six major schools, including Apeejay School and Delhi Public School, were mentioned in two separate emails received early Monday morning. The situation caused panic, with many worried parents rushing to the campuses to take their children home.
Police teams and bomb disposal squads were immediately sent to the locations to carry out detailed searches. Officials said the emails demanded that all portraits and statues of Dr Ambedkar be removed by April 14, claiming that his constitutional views went against the group’s ideology.
