Two shooters among seven arrested in AAP sarpanch Jarmal Singhs killing, says Punjab DGP

The DGP further said that two accused Sukhraj Singh, resident of Tarn Taran and Karamjeet Singh, resident of Gurdaspur, arrested from Raipur shot the sarpanch.

PTC News Desk: Seven people have been arrested in connection with the murder of AAP sarpanch Jarmal Singh in Amritsar, said Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav. Among them, two were held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh; two in Mohali; and three in Tarn Taran.


The DGP further said that two accused Sukhraj Singh, resident of Tarn Taran and Karamjeet Singh, resident of Gurdaspur, arrested from Raipur shot the sarpanch. The were later produced in the court and sent to 14-day transit remand.


Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadac revealed that the killing was orchestrated on the directions of their handler based abroad over long standing enmity between gangster Prabh Dasuwal and the sarpanch. 


Sarpanch Jarmal Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran, was murdered on January 4 when he had come to Amritsar to attend a wedding function. After the incident, the two shooters fled to Chhattisgarh and were hiding at a relative’s house in Raipur. On Sunday, Raipur Police and Punjab Police arrested both shooters.
