Sikh jatha to Pakistan: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) will dispatch a Sikh jatha to Pakistan on June 10 to participate in the observances of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s Shaheedi Gurpurab, marking the first such pilgrimage after a considerable gap.

According to SGPC officials, a total of 561 passport applications were forwarded to the Pakistan High Commission through the required channels for visa processing. Out of these, visas have been granted to 541 pilgrims, while 20 applicants could not secure travel permission.

The pilgrims’ passports will be distributed on June 9 at the SGPC office. The officially approved jatha comprising 541 devotees is scheduled to leave from the SGPC headquarters in Amritsar on June 10.

During the pilgrimage, the devotees will visit important gurdwaras in Pakistan and participate in religious ceremonies commemorating the martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru. The jatha is expected to return to India on June 19.
