Three men fire multiple rounds at sweet shop in Phagwara hours before CM Manns visit
The incident occurred around 6:45 am when assailants reportedly arrived on an Activa scooter and fired at the entrance of the shop shattering glass windows and door panes.
PTC News Desk: Hours before Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's visit to Phagwara, three unknown assailants opened multiple round of fire at a sweet shop on Hoshiarpur road on Monday.
No injuries were reported, though the shop owner and four workers were inside at the time.
The incident occurred around 6:45 am when assailants reportedly arrived on an Activa scooter and fired at the entrance of the shop shattering glass windows and door panes. The assailants fled the scene after firing.
Soon after receiving the information, senior police officials including Phagwara SP Madhvi Sharma reached the spot to examine the situation. Police have launched investigation into the matter and started examining CCTV footage to identify the attackers.
According to the reports, around eight empty cartridges, believed to be from a 9mm pistol, were recovered at the scene.
Former Union minister and Phagwara MLA Som Parkash also visited the location, condemning the attack and expressing concern over the law-and-order situation.
Notably the incident took place hours before CM Mann's scheduled visit to Phagwara to attend a programme at Lovely Professional University. Security has been significantly heightened in the city.
