Punjab horror: 60-year-old farmer shot dead by unknown assailants in Tarn Taran
PTC News Desk: A 60-year-old farmer was shot dead in Tarn Taran district by two motorcycle-borne assailants on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Atma Singh, a resident of Gandiwind Dhattal village falling under Chohla Sahib police station.
Soon after receiving the information, police reached the spot and launched investigation into the matter. The accused after firing multiple rounds immediately flee the spot.
Police have set up checkpoints in nearby areas and are searching for the accused. At the same time, evidence is being collected from the scene and local residents are being questioned. SP Ripu Daman said that, so far, no angle related to threats, ransom, or gang involvement has emerged in the case.
The motive behind the killing has not been established yet and police are investigating all possible angles. Initial inquiries suggest that an old rivalry or personal dispute could be the cause. Police say the accused will be arrested soon and the case will be solved.
