Punjab elections 2022: Will enter into alliance with BJP, SAD (Sanyukt), says Captain Amarinder Singh

Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, who recently floated the Punjab Lok Congress Party, on Monday said their aim was to win the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections and they would.

Captain Amarinder Singh said his newly formed party would contest the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections in alliance with the BJP and Sukhdev Singh Dhinda-led Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt).

"In principle, a decision has been taken. Seat adjustment is to be done. We'll also do seat adjustments with Dhindsa Sahab's party. I'll tell both parties that we should pick winners, support those candidates," Captain Amarinder Singh told mediapersons when asked about the alliance with the BJP. The former Punjab Chief Minister said the CM face of the alliance would be declared later.

He said the Central Government had repealed the three farm laws and Prime Minister Narendra Modi was constituting a committee on the MSP issue. "Farmers have submitted five names for the committee. Lets hope the issue is resolved at the earliest. I have already announced a compensation for next of kin of farmers, who died during the agitation," said Captain Amarinder Singh.

The former Punjab Chief Minister said his party had already started a membership drive 10 days ago. "We are creating groups across all districts for the successful completion of the membership drive," Captain Amarinder Singh added.
