Central agencies raid de-addiction centres and hospitals in Khamano, Fatehgarh Sahib, after Jhota murder
Central agencies raided de-addiction centres and hospitals in Khamano and Khanna, with a team of about 12 men searching Satnam Nasha Chhudau Kendra. The agency has not been officially identified
Fatehgarh Sahib (Khamano): Central agencies carried out raids on de-addiction centres and hospitals in Khamano in Fatehgarh Sahib district and in Khanna on Monday, a development that has set off wide discussion in the area. The searches continued till late evening.
The action comes in the wake of the murder of Parvinder Singh Jhota, who campaigned against drugs in Mansa. The CBI is already investigating that case in Mansa and the latest raids suggest central agencies are now looking at the drug situation more broadly.
According to available information, the teams reached some de-addiction centres and hospitals in Khamano in the evening and began checking records and premises. No official has made any statement so far, and further details are awaited.
Raid at Satnam de-addiction centre
At a hospital and de-addiction facility in Khamano, about 12 people arrived in an Innova and a Scorpio and carried out a surprise raid at Satnam Nasha Chhudau Kendra. It has not been officially confirmed whether the team belongs to the CBI or another agency.
Since morning, mediapersons and local residents have been watching the centre, trying to find out which agency conducted the raid and why. When reporters tried to speak to the officials, they declined to comment. The team had locked the doors from inside.
Local link being drawn
Residents of Khamano are also linking the raid to the Jhota murder case and to the CBI’s action against some Aam Aadmi Party leaders a few days ago. Whatever the reason behind the search, the raid kept the town talking through the day.
