PTC News Desk: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday searched the Hoshiarpur residence of former Punjab Industries Minister and senior Congress leader Sunder Sham Arora.

ED officials reportedly arrived around 5 a.m., secured the premises and began the search. The operation was still underway when this report was filed.

Arora’s lawyer, advocate H.S. Saini, said he had spoken with the officials and learnt that the team had come from the ED’s Chandigarh office. He added that the officials had not explained the purpose of the search but had asked for certain documents.

The ED action follows an Income Tax Department search at Arora’s home that lasted nearly three days, or about 62 hours. At the time, Arora said the tax department’s action was related to his son’s property business and maintained that officials had found nothing illegal.

The reason for Monday’s ED search and the details of the documents sought were not immediately clear. The agency had not issued an official statement by the time this report was filed.
