Supreme Court: Ban on biopic on PM Narendra Modi is valid

The Supreme Court on Friday said that Election Commission's order to ban biopic on PM Narendra Modi is valid. According to the media reports, the poll body said that there is a high probability that a particular political party would be able to influence voters if this movie is released. It further wrote in its reports that EC is justified in its decision to release the film after the last phase of voting for the Lok Sabha elections on May 19.

Media reports further reveal that the movie revolves around popularizing the main character. It also portrays him as a leader with a no-compromise approach. It has also directed the EC counsel to share the report with the film’s producer, who had moved the apex court challenging the Commission’s decision to ban its release despite getting the nod of the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC).
