Srinagar, June 16: Five terrorists have been killed in a successful counter-infiltration operation conducted by security forces near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district. The operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs received in the Jumagund area near the LoC.

The encounter began in the early morning hours after a joint operation was initiated by the army and police on Thursday night. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, confirmed the news on Twitter, stating that five foreign terrorists had been neutralized in the encounter, and search operations were ongoing in the area.

This latest encounter is part of a series of successful operations carried out by security forces to counter infiltration attempts in the region. Just the day before, the army thwarted an infiltration bid in the Poonch sector and seized a significant quantity of arms and ammunition.

Officials highlight that this encounter is one of ten major infiltration attempts that have been foiled along the Line of Control since February. These incidents serve as evidence of Pakistan's continued efforts to push terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir.

The security forces remain vigilant and committed to ensuring the safety and security of the region, actively working to neutralize any threats posed by infiltrating terrorists.
