Voting stooped in a Nabha booth after SAD objected on voters list

Voting has been stopped in Nabha during the Zila Parishads and Panchayat Samitis Elections after Shiromani Akali Dal objects on voters list, here on Wednesday.

Of total nine blocks in the district, Nabha has the maximum number of voters – 1,47,816, followed by Patiala – 1,30,030. There are 81,897 voters in Rajpura, 69,367 in Ghanaur, 78,236 in Shambhu Kalan, 91,107 in Sanaur, 91,911 in Bhunreri, 93,388 in Samana and 95,181 in Patran.

The polling to 22 Punjab Zila Parishads and 150 Panchayat Samitis Elections 2018 is scheduled for today. In view of the Punjab Civic Polls 2018, most of the public school and colleges will remain closed. The main contenders — Congress and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) — are contesting over a total of 354 zila parishad seats and 2,900 panchayat seats.
