West Bengal Bypolls result 2021: Mamata Banerjee wins from Bhabanipur, BJP accepts defeat

West Bengal's Bhabanipur, Jangipur, Samserganj and Odisha's Pipli Bypolls result 2021: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has won Bhabanipur bypoll by over 58,000 votes. BJP candidate Priyanka Tibrewal has accepted defeat and said that Mamata failed to get the 1 lakh vote margin she had promised.

In Samserganj, TMC's Amirul Islan defeated Congress' Zaidur Rahaman by 1780 votes. From Jangipur, TMC's Jakir Hossain defeated BJP's Sujit Das with a margin of 20,633 votes.

The counting of votes in West Bengal's Bhabanipur, Jangipur, Samserganj, and Odisha's Pipili constituency started at 8 am Sunday (October 3). Bhabanipur was the main focus from where state chief minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee was contesting against Priyanka Tibrewal of the BJP.

Voter turnout in Bhabanipur was 53.32 percent till 5 pm on Thursday, the officials said.

Reportdely, a clash broke out between BJP and TMC supporters in the Bhabanipur and BJP leader Kalyan Chaubey's car was also allegedly vandalised on the day of voting.

From Odisha's Pipli constituency, BJD's Rudra Pratap Maharathy defeated BJP's Ashrit Pattanayak by the margin of 20,916 votes.
