Washington (US), November 20: Former US President Donald Trump's Twitter account resurfaced on Sunday after Elon Musk confirmed that his account would be reinstated.

Elon Musk confirmed on Sunday that Trump's Twitter account would be restored. "The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated. Vox Populi, Vox Dei," Musk said on Twitter.

Vox Populi, Vox Dei, a Latin phrase meaning "the voice of the people is the voice of God."

Meanwhile, Trump's Twitter account reappeared following Musk's announcement.

Trump's previously blocked Twitter account resurfaced on the platform Saturday, minutes after company owner Elon Musk announced he was lifting the former president's 22-month suspension for incitement of violence.

Twitter CEO Musk has launched a poll asking users to vote on whether to reinstate Trump's account, which was previously barred for life due to incitement of violence.

"Reinstate former President Trump," the billionaire Twitter owner posted, with a chance to vote either yes or no. "Trump poll getting ~1M votes/hour," he said in a subsequent tweet.

According to the survey, slightly more than 15 million Twitter users participated in the poll, with 51.8 percent voting in favour of reinstatement.

Trump had appeared uninterested earlier in the day.

"I don't see any reason for it," the former president said via video when asked whether he planned to return to Twitter by a panel at the Republican Jewish Coalition's annual leadership meeting.
