Amritsar train tragedy: Inquiry report to be submitted today
The magisterial probe into the Amritsar train tragedy is over and Jalandhar Divisional Commissioner B Purushartha would submit its report to the state government, on Tuesday.
As many as 61 people had lost their lives when a speeding train ran over them while they were standing on a rail tracks near Joda Phatak in Amritsar to watch the effigy of Ravana going up in smoke.
The inquiry was ordered by Capt. Amarinder Singh after the train tragedy on Dussehra day on October 19.
According to sources, the report that runs into about 100 pages has taken into account various aspects of the tragedy, including the role of agencies like the district administration, organizers and railways The statements of the witnesses form the bulk of the report. -PTC News
