Bathinda police today claimed they were close to cracking the Maur blast case. All the four witnesses in a Talwandi Sabo court said to be Dera Sacha Sauda sewadars. The witnesses were produced in court by Police and Counter-Intelligence officials. Sources said the four witnesses, primarily mechanics, and painters, had approached the police, claiming they had information about the car used in the blast. One of them said he could identify the car that had been repainted and its several parts assembled. The statements of the witnesses were recorded under Section 164 of the CrPC by the court of the sub-divisional judicial magistrate. Ranveer Singh Khatra, DIG, Counter-Intelligence, Swapan Sharma, AIG, and other senior police officials were among those present. Bathinda SSP Naveen Singla said the police could not reveal their identity since the probe was still on and their life could be endangered. “Dayalpura SHO Dalbir Singh will now head the probe. “We will crack the case soon,” he said. The Bathinda Police and the Counter-Intelligence wing had been investigating the case separately. -PTC News
