Boxing coach Gurbax Singh Sandhu expresses solidarity with agitating farmers
Farmers Protest: Former national boxing coach Gurbax Singh Sandhu has announced that he will be returning his Dronacharya Award in support of agitating farmers protesting against the farm laws 2020.
The Gurbax Singh Sandhu was awarded the Dronacharya Award —the highest national award in the field of coaching.
He started coaching the Indian National Team in 1993. In the 2008 Summer Olympics, the Indian team under his guidance brought a medal to India when Vijender Singh had won the bronze medal.

It was the first-ever medal for India in Boxing at the Olympics. He also helped several Indian boxers to boost their performances in World Championship.
He left coaching for boxing in India in July 2013.

Farmers from across the country are staging a protest against the Centre's farm laws 2020 at the Delhi border. The protest has been turned into a global movement as people from across the globe are expressing solidarity with the farmers.
Not only this, Shiromani Akali Dal stalwart, former Union Minister and five-time Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Parkash Singh Badal on Thursday returned the Padma Vibhushan award in protest against farm laws 2020.
Likewise, Punjabi singer Harbhajan Mann refused to take the Shiromani "Gayak" award, given by Punjab's language department, in protest against the farm laws.
