This year's shaadi season to generate Rs 4.25 lakh crore business with 35 lakh weddings
PTC News Desk: The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) estimates that businesses would earn 4.25 lakh crore during this year's Indian wedding season in just 23 days. CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal stated on X (previously Twitter) that over 35 lakh weddings are scheduled to take place between November 23 and December 15, generating a staggering 4.25 trillion in purchases and services.
"Wedding season first spell from 23 November to 15 December is all set to bring cheers to the trading community. @CAITIndia expects a biz of about ₹ 4.25 lakh crore wedding trade this year," Khandelwal posted on X.
"About 35 lakh weddings are estimated to be solemnised during this period in #Bharat," he further said.
Separately, according to IPO India, the average wedding expense in India this year is expected to be about 5 lakh. Goa, Jaipur, Kerala, and Shimla are among the most popular wedding destinations in India.
"The most popular wedding trends in India include destination weddings, themed weddings, and eco-friendly weddings," IPO India stated.
According to CAIT, the upcoming festival and wedding season would enhance demand for jewellery, sarees, furniture, readymade garments, footwear, and other accessories. The second phase of the wedding season will begin in mid-January and last until July, according to the CAIT.
Meanwhile, during the same period last year, almost 32 lakh weddings took place, with total expenses totalling 3.75 lakh crore.
