CBI recovers hard discs, laptops allegedly linked to Delhi minister
The CBI claimed to have recovered four hard discs and three laptops, allegedly belonging to Delhi minister Satyendar Jain, from Delhi Medical Council president Arun Gupta on Tuesday.
CBI sources said that during the questioning of Delhi Dental Council registrar Rishiraj, arrested recently, the agency got to know that these laptops and hard discs were lying with Gupta.
Based on the information, the agency searched the premises of Gupta from where the recoveries were made, the sources said on Tuesday.
These electronic gadgets have been sent for forensic analysis, they said.
The agency also categorically denied claims of the Delhi government that the property documents allegedly linked to Jain "were taken by the CBI in last year's raid".
None of the three documents -- two original property documents and a photo copy of power of attorney which were recovered during searches at Rishiraj's residence -- were provided to it at any stage or seized by the agency during searches at Jain's residence, the CBI sources said.
During the searches on tuesday, the agency has also recovered details of an ICICI Bank account allegedly linked to Jain, who is facing a CBI probe in the matter of amassing disproportionate assets, they said.
Rishiraj and N Pradeep Sharma, a lawyer for the council, were arrested on Saturday night while allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 4.7 lakh from a doctor, they said.
During the searches, the CBI made a chance recovery of property documents, bank deposit slips of about Rs 2 crore allegedly linked to Health Minister Jain, and companies where he was director, the agency sources said.
It is alleged that they were demanding Rs 1.1 crore from the doctor for giving him relief in complaints filed by a patient.
The doctor alleged in the complaint that during discussion, Rishiraj and lawyer Sharma had informed that the bribe amount can be broken down into three portions -- Rs 40 lakh for a favourable order from a consumer court, Rs 40 lakh for help in cases required to quash the order of the Delhi Dental Council, another Rs 20 lakh for getting good standing certificate in his name.
