Cong' Ashu Banger arrested on fraud charge, PPCC chief Warring cries 'political vendetta'

Punjab, July 9: After Moga police on Friday arrested Congress leader Ashu Banger on the charge of forgery, PPCC chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring held a press conference on Saturday and said it is a "political vendetta."

Earlier, on Friday, the police arrested Dr Ashu Banger, who contested the Assembly elections on the Congress ticket from Ferozepur (Rural) after rejecting the AAP ticket, in a cheating case. According to the police, Congress leader Banger was running a racket of providing fake experience and employment certificates of Moga Medicity Hospital to people for immigration purposes and job aspirants.

The Moga police have filed a case against Banger and Hardeep Singh Brar of Muktsar under Sections 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Moga city police station.

Addressing a media briefing on Saturday, PPCC chief Raja Warring stated that "the Punjab AAP government is acting out of pure vendetta. A cheating or forgery case cannot be filed without a thorough investigation, but they just filed a fake case against him based on a police officer's statement and a voice message and without receiving any complaints. " Further, targeting Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government over the state's law and order situation, Raja Warring stated that "it's been over a month since singer Sidhu Moosewala was killed in broad daylight. The Punjab govt has failed to bring the culprits to justice."

"The law and order situation in the state is continuously deteriorating. People are upset with Centre's Agnipath scheme," he added.
