China says all COVID-19 patients in Wuhan have now been discharged: Report
After more than three months, China's Wuhan, the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak, has cleared all the remaining cases related to the pandemic in its hospitals, the health authorities told Xinhua news agency on Sunday.
This came after a 77-year-old man tested negative for the second time for coronavirus in the capital city of Hubei province. He had no symptoms and was able to be discharged, an official with Wuhan Municipal Health Commission was quoted as saying.
A spokesperson for the National Health Commission, Mi Feng, said at a press conference in Beijing that the outcome was earned through the hard work of medical workers in Wuhan. As per the report, around 3 million people have been reported to be diagnosed globally and more than 200,000 patients have died.
However, the Chinese mainland registered 82,827 COVID-19 cases by Saturday and stated that more than 93.4 percent of them had been recovered. Meanwhile, Sunday's announcement was a new testament that the local spread of coronavirus in the country has been curbed.

Wuhan had reported a total of 50,333 confirmed positive cases and 3,869 deaths, as of Saturday. The recovery rate has increased to 92 percent, according to the health officials. In Hubei, no new cases have been reported for over 20 days, and the number of remaining cases has dropped below 50.
