"5.5 lakh coronavirus cases expected in Delhi by July 31," says Manish Sisodia

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday stated that there could be around 5.5 lakh cases of coronavirus in the national capital by the end of July. While addressing the media after attending a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Sisodia said that Delhi will require over 80,000 beds by the July-end. He said that "Till June 15, there will be 44,000 cases and 6,600 beds will be needed. By June 30, we will reach 1 lakh cases and 15,000 beds will be required. By July 15, there will be 2.25 lakh cases and 33,000 beds will be needed. By July 31, 5.5 lakh cases expected and 80,000 beds will be needed." Khaira announced to hold state-level worker convention in Bathinda on August 2 in a press conference last week. Meanwhile, the officers of Central Government were present at the meeting and they said that there is no community spread in Delhi as of now so it need not be discussed. Earlier in the day, the Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and State Health Minister Satyendar Jain held a State Disaster Management Authority meeting on coronavirus situation and to discuss whether there is community spread. On the advice of doctors, he underwent coronavirus test. Delhi is the third worst-hit coronavirus state in the country after Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. -PTC News
