Coronavirus: India reports first death, confirmed cases surge to 75

India has reported the first death due to coronavirus in Karnataka while the number of confirmed cases has climbed to 75. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, released the information. Meanwhile, 134,839 coronavirus cases have been reported across the globe while 4,985 deaths have been reported so far.

Ban on IPL

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia stated that "We have decided to ban any such activity where people will gather in huge numbers like IPL. Social distancing is important to curb the breakout of Coronavirus."

BJP MP Hema Malini on coronavirus

BJP MP Helma Malini on Friday stated that "Everybody should be careful and secure themselves and not travel overseas. It is good that visas have been canceled. I have seen people joking about it on WhatsApp, like 'corona, Marona', it should not be taken lightly."

Press conference every day

The Union Cabinet Sources revealed that the Joint Secretaries of all the five ministries, including the Ministry of External Affairs, Health, Civil Aviation, Finance, and Commerce will address a press conference every day.

"Parliament session should also be curtailed"

Union Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Friday stated that the Parliament session should also be curtailed, in order to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. Maneka Gandhi on coronavirus

BJP leader Maneka Gandhi was quoted by news agency ANI as saying: "I received many complaints against some govt health depts that they have issued advisories over coronavirus advising people to not touch animals. This virus can not transmit through animals nor they can have it. I appeal to these depts to not spread lies." -PTC News
